March Update, Radio and More

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Good afternoon

We have had an extremely busy 3 months since my last update. Amongst other things, we have been dealing with an influx of press enquiries surrounding our recent application for an FM broadcast licence. Just some of the press coverage can be seen at:

And whilst not strictly press coverage, the original Government publication which sparked the interest:

I must admit I have been caught slightly of guard by the sheer volume of enquiries from all around the world. If we can ignite that kind of passion with the finished product, I think we can safely call it a success. On that note, if anyone is interested in becoming part of the Island’s radio revolution please do get in touch.

Since my last update we have also been hard at work installing communications equipment onboard the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s new fast craft Manannan. It is really a pleasure to be part of such an inspiring project, which turns out to be the largest conversion project ever undertaken on an aluminium fast craft.

I am also pleased to announce that we will shortly be launching a brand new business venture. Whilst details are still under wraps, I can say that we have £100, 000 to literally give away in the first 6 months of operation. Stay tuned to the blog and be the first person to find out how.

That’s all for now. I hope to update you all soon.

Blast FM – FM Broadcast Application

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

On Thursday the 6th of March 2008 BlueWave Communications Ltd delivered an application to the Communications Commission requesting a licence under the Broadcasting Act 2008 of Tynwald. The application contained details of a radio station with the call sign Blast FM.

Business Development Manager and former Pride in Mann nominee Stuart Baggs said

It’s going to be an exciting time for the Isle of Man. For the first time, people will have a chance to get involved with radio not just listen to it.

When the application is complete, BlueWave Communications Ltd will be the first broadcaster to be licensed under the new Broadcasting Act brought into affect in January of this year.

Mr. Baggs continued

We will show the same commitment to our listeners as we do to our customers. Always listening and adapting our programming to fit exactly what our listeners want. Filling in the huge gaps left by other the other commercial radio stations.

The radio station will create opportunity’s for a wealth of people on the Island including creating an outlet for up and coming talent.

At present details of programming, broadcast EIRP and coverage area have not been made available for general release. Press enquirys should be directed to hello@bluewave.im.
