We’re delighted to announce that today’s landmark decision by the Competition Appeals Tribunal to uphold the reduction of the mobile phone termination rate, will result in markedly lower call prices to all UK mobile networks.

Whilst the wholesale termination rates are not set to be reduced for a further 2 years, you can be assured that we’re already working on exciting and innovative ways of packaging mobile calls over our VoIP platform. That includes offers never possible before like unlimited landline and mobile calls for a fixed monthly fee.

We’ve been working closely with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company over the past few years to deliver some fantastic new products and innovations.

I’m delighted to announce that we’ve been able to install a webcam onboard the Ben my Chree, the Steam Packet’s flagship vessel sailing year round across the Irish Sea.

The webcam is hosted on our scalable and geographically diverse network infrastructure, spanning 4 separate points of presence in the Isle of Man and the United Kingdom.

From the 4th of January 2011, the standard rate of VAT will be increasing from 17.5% to 20%. Accordingly, the prices we charge for our consumer services (those advertised as VAT inclusive) will be increasing from this date.

Our corporate customers and those registered for VAT will remain unaffected by these changes.

Another iconic Manx brand has selected BlueWave Communications to provide high capacity, high availability telecoms solutions. Shoprite, the Island’s leading supermarket chain, required a high bandwidth circuit between their head office at Centre House and their new disaster recovery facility in Village Walk, Onchan. There is no line of site between these locations, infact they are separated by several tree lines and two housing estates.

The traditional solution would have involved an ethernet circuit from Manx Telecom. However, to avoid ongoing circuit rental charges, we installed a direct site to site link between the locations. This private circuit provides a high capacity connection with greater than 99.995% availability.
